This brooch is lovely as an eye-catching pin and would also make a wonderful pendant with an added bale.  The pin features such detail from the branches of the trees cascading from the top to a racing horse and jockey coming down the home stretch on the turf with the rails in the background.  It is sterling silver, marked as such on the reverse, and measures 2" long and 1 5/8" tall. The straight pin appears to be of base metal so bending it would be difficult.  This is a wonderful pin to wear with any outfit, anywhere but especially to the races!
